About CSEA
About CSEA
CSEA is changing.
From 1932 to 2005 CSEA was the largest organization of state employees. Our members founded the
Golden 1 Credit Union
and the
California Public Employees Retirement System
. We won the eight-hour day, employee and retiree health care, and collective bargaining.
Today, CSEA is a federation of four affiliated organizations. We are no longer a membership organization. Our customers are the Affiliates. With the exception of
Member Benefits
, individuals receive services directly from their Affiliate, not directly from CSEA.
CSEA affiliates are:
SEIU Local 1000
representing rank & file state civil service employees.
Association of California State Supervisors
representing state managers, supervisors and confidential employees.
California State Retirees Inc.
representing retired state employees.
CSU Employees Union
representing State University employees.
CSEA provides business services to these affiliates. These services include accounting, payroll, IT and human resources.
CSEA also has an active
Member Benefits program
, which provides discounts on a wide variety of products -- from movie and theme park tickets to home, auto, life and health insurance -- available to affiliate members.
If you are a dues-paying member in an
Association Partnership Program
organization, you are also eligible for the discounts from our
Member Benefits program
.
Politics and Legislation
CSEA no longer provides lobbying, legislative or political action services.
