What's New at the Foundation
|
|
|
|
Our S.O.C.K.S. fund raising campaign set a goal for raising $10,000 by September 1, 2010. On Saturday, August 21, we reached that goal!!! The proceeds from a raffle held at the CSEA Retirees, Inc., Board of Directors' meeting put us over the top.
The Foundation raised $10,063!! In addition, more donations have been committed but have yet to be received. A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the campaign and congratulations to our future scholarship awardees!

Children and grandchildren of members of all four CSEA affiliates -- ACSS, CSUEU, CSEA Retirees, Inc., and SEIU Local 1000 -- will be eligible to apply for CSEA foundation scholarships in 2011.
Members who are victims of natural disasters may also apply for CSEA Foundation grants.
Last year, the Foundation granted a total of 39 scholarships totaling $47,000 to dependents in all CSEA affiliates.

Scholarship application packages will be available on January 1, 2011.

The CSEA Foundation Board of Directors would like to thank CSEA Retirees, Inc Chapter 20 and Chapter 9 for their generous donation to the fund. Chapter 9 made their donation in honor of Carol Viegas, CSEA Retirees, Inc Administrator. Carol is retiring.

The CSEA Foundation Board has elected Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Chapter 316 President Joan Kennedy to serve as its president.
The Foundation was incorporated in 1984 to administer the CSEA Training and Education Scholarship Program, which provides scholarships for the dependent children of CSEA’s affiliate members. Last year, it granted 38 scholarships totaling $47,000 to dependents in all CSEA affiliates.
